Below is pricing for flight training at Charleston Helicopters. We train in new Robinson R44 Raven II's with air conditioning. The prices listed for the programs and courses below are calculated using the minimums established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for flight and ground instruction for that rating. Prices are subject to change.
All new students including add-on students must complete their private helicopter lisence even if commercial rated in any other powered aircraft.
Private PPL (H)
Flight Requirements: - 40 hrs (flight time) @ $420 p/hr ($16,800)
Including:
20 hrs (Dual flight instruction)
10 hrs (Solo flight)
Ground Schooling: 30 hrs (aprox) @ $35 p/hr ($1050)
FAA Written exam: 1 @ $90 p/attempt ($90)

Commercial CPL (H)
Flight Requirements: - 150 hrs (total) @ $420 p/hr ($46,200)
Including:
100 hrs in powered aircraft (50 hrs in Helicopter)
100 hrs Pilot In Command (PIC)
Including:
35 hrs Helicopter
10 hrs (Cross country)
20 hrs (Dual flight instruction)
5 hrs (Instrument training)
2 hrs (Day-Time cross country with a straight line distance of 50 Nautical Miles)
2 hrs (Night-Time cross country with a straight line distance of 50 Nautical Miles)
10 hrs (Solo flight)
3 hrs (Flight time in the preceding 60 days before Check-Ride)
1 (Cross country flight landing at 3 different airports including one straight line leg of 50 Nautical Miles)
5 hrs (Night flying)
